The Cleveland Cavaliers are back to being a contender after seeing many years of non-LeBron James years at the bottom of the conference. Guards Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland are the Cavs with this team back in business.

Cavaliers tickets are worth it, as you can watch Mitchell, Garland, and entertaining big men playing for the Cleveland basketball squad. With future Cavaliers teams looking to match what the 2016 team completed – an improbable 3-1 comeback in the NBA Finals – Cavs fans should be excited for what is to come.

On AwesomeSeating.com, you can find face-value options for Cavaliers tickets to see them try to win their second NBA title.

Cleveland Cavaliers History

The Cleveland Cavaliers basketball franchise was founded in 1970 and was a part of the four-team Central Division; the others were the Baltimore Bullets (the now Washington Wizards), Cincinnati Royals (the now Sacramento Kings), and Atlanta Hawks.

In the 1970s, the Cavaliers had Hall of Famers Lenny Wilkins, Nate Thurmond, and Walt Frazier on their team, but it was at the end of their careers. Then in 1986, the Cavaliers selected Brad Daugherty and Mark Price in the draft. Daugherty was the first overall selection, and Cleveland acquired Price (No. 25 overall) from the Dallas Mavericks.

Before LeBron James, Daugherty and Price were the two best Cavaliers in franchise history. In 1992, the Lenny Wilkens-coached Cavs made the Eastern Conference Finals. Until LeBron came to town, the Cavaliers were not a perennial championship contender. Under Mike Brown, the Cavaliers came close to a title, but they made only one trip to the Finals.

Then after James returned from Miami, he made four consecutive Finals for Cleveland. David Blatt coached the Cavaliers for the first 1.5 years of James’ return. Tyronn Lue coached the remainder. It was four straight Finals against the Golden States Warriors, and in 2016, the Cavs emerged victorious for the franchise’s first title.

Cleveland Cavaliers Division Rivals and NBA Rivals

Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Tickets

Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, Michael Jordan was the bane of their existence in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1989, Jordan hit “The Shot” in front of a sellout Cavaliers crowd. Then in 1992, 1993, and 1994, the Bulls continued to beat the Cavs.

Fortunately for the Cavs, LeBron James helped reverse Cleveland’s fortunes in the 2010s. In both 2010 and 2015, the LeBron-led Cavaliers beat Chicago. Neither ended in Cavaliers championships, but they were significant victories for Cleveland's basketball history.

Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Tickets

In the 1990s, the Cavs and Bulls played a lot. It was the 2010s when the Cavs and Warriors battled. In 2016, Cleveland won the Finals. The title was sandwiched by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green championships. Golden State defeated Cleveland three times, and Curry was the regular season MVP in two of those seasons. Andre Iguodala collected one of the Finals MVP trophies, while Kevin Durant won the other two.

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Tickets

Another Cleveland basketball rivalry is the one with the Boston Celtics, one of the league’s original stalwart franchises. During his first stint in Cleveland, LeBron James was tormented by Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett.

However, James vanquished those demons in Miami. Then when James was back with the Cavs, he defeated Boston three times in the playoffs.
