Team History The Minnesota Timberwolves entered the NBA in the 1989-90 season as part of a four-team expansion that included the Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat. In 2007-2008 the team struggled to a fourth place finish in the five-team Northwest Division with a 22-60 record, tied with the Memphis Grizzlies for third worst in the NBA. 2008-2009 Before the 2007 season the Timberwolves front office committed to youth. The inevitable house cleaning was generally cheered, though it did mean seeing familiar faces like Mike James and Justin Reed go to the Houston Rockets and All-Star Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics.
