Team History The Cleveland Cavaliers entered the Central Division of the NBA Eastern Conference as part of the 1970 expansion. Using the Cleveland Arena as home base, the Cavs went 15–67 in their first season, worst in the league. The Cav’s finest season was 1991-92, when they went 57–25 and made it to the Eastern Conference finals, losing to the same Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls that denied them the Conference championship in the playoffs two years before. In 1980 the franchise was bought by Ted Stepien, a man who’d made his fortune in advertising. Mr Stepien was unable to put a competitive team on the court. The 1981–82 Cavs ended the season a 19 game losing streak and added five more losses to the streak to start the 1982–83 season – the NBA record for dutility on the court. Local support for the franchise plummeted and attendance dropped below 4,000 per game in a 20,000 seat arena. Stepien eventually sold the franchise to the Gund Brothers. Under them, the team improved. With Lenny Wilkens as head coach, the Cavs went to the play-offs eight out of the next nine seasons and won 50+ games three times. Following a sweep by the Bulls in the 1993 Conference Semifinals, the Cavaliers went into a period of decline. From the 1990s until the Cavs drafted high school phenom James LeBron in 2004, the team failed to get past the First Round – a period of 13 seasons. Since the arrival of LeBron James in 2003 the fortunes of the Cleveland Cavaliers have reversed. Tickets for Cleveland Cavaliers games are now one of the tougher finds. We’ve got cheap Cleveland Cavaliers tickets. In 2005-06 the Cavs went 50-32, good enough for second. They beat the Washington Wizards 4-2 but lost to the Detroit Pistons in the Conference Semifinal. In 2006-07 King James led the Cavs past the New Jersey Nets and Piston all the way to the NBA Finals, only to get swept by the San Antonio Spurs. 2008-2009 2007-08 saw the Cavs go seven games in the Conference Semifinal before yielding to the eventual champs, the Boston Celtics. This is a hot ticket because this is the only team that went the distance against the champ. Get your cheap Cleveland Cavaliers tickets here.
