Lynch filled the roles of Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator and Tight Ends Coach. Hoeppner was diagnosed with brain cancer in the spring of 2007. He took an indefinite leave of absence and Lynch became acting head coach. When Hoeppner lost his battle with cancer and passed away in June, Lynch was named interim head coach for the 2007 season. In his debut season as head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers, Lynch led the team to a 7-5 record, the football Hoosiers’ best showing since 1993. Postseason The Hoosiers are 3 – 6 in nine postseason bowl appearances. The team’s most recent appearance in the postseason was a New Year’s Eve appearance in the 2007 Insight Bowl. Playing against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, the Hoosier defense was unable to solve the Cowboy’s running game and went down to defeat, 49 – 33. |
