| North Carolina State Wolf Pack The ACC schedule works in three year cycles. Each team is assigned two permanent partners and nine rotating partners. Teams play their permanent partners in a home-and-away series each year. The rotating partners are split into three groups: three teams who are played in a home-and-away series, three teams who are played at home, and three teams who are played on the road. The rotating partner groups are rotated every three years. This creates an intra-conference schedule of 16 games against 11 Atlantic Coast Conference teams. The North Carolina. State Wolf Pack’s two permanent partners are the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils, historically the two toughest teams in the conference. Home court for the North Carolina State Wolf Pack is the 19,722 seat RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Head coach Sidney Lowe came to the Wolf Pack in 2006 after sixteen years spent coaching in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves (assistant coach, 1991-93 and 2003-05, head coach 1993-94), Cleveland Cavaliers (assistant coach 1994-99), Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies (head coach 2000-02) and the Detroit Pistons (assistant coach, 2005-06. In his first season with North Carolina State Lowe led the team to a 20-16 record overall, including games in National Invitational Tournament (NIT) where the Wolf Pack made it to the Quarterfinals. In 2007-08 the team finished 15-16 in the regular season. The disparity between Lowe’s combined regular season records for his first two seasons as head coach of the North Carolina State Wolf Pack and his record over the same period in conference games is striking: at 35-32 Lowe has coached to an overall winning percentage of .522 overall; in the ACC he has a record of 9-23 for a winning percentage of .281. If Lowe is to survive as head coach he will have to get the Wolf Pack back into the NCAA Tournament this season. Prior to Lowe’s arrival in North Carolina, Wolf Pack fans grew happily accustomed to seeing their team in the post season. From 2001-02 to 2005-06 the Pack went to the postseason all five seasons and were eliminated in the first round only once, in 2003. In 2005 they made it all the way to the Sweet Sixteen. In 2005-06, the season immediately prior to the start of the Lowe-era, the team finished the regular season 21-9 and eliminated the California Golden Bears 58-52 in the first round of the Atlanta Regional before falling 75-54 to the Texas Longhorns in the round two.
