| Maryland Terrapins The ACC schedule works in three year cycles. Each team is assigned two permanent partners and nine rotating partners. Teams play their permanent partners in a home-and-away series each year. The rotating partners are split into three groups: three teams who are played in a home-and-away series, three teams who are played at home, and three teams who are played on the road. The rotating partner groups are rotated every three years. This creates an intra-conference schedule of 16 games against 11 Atlantic Coast Conference teams. The Maryland Terrapins finished 6 th in the Atlantic Coast Conference, going 19-17 in the 2007-08 regular season, 8-8 in conference play. Terrapin Head Coach Gary B. Williams has been with the team since 1989. He came to Maryland following tenures at American University of the East Coast Conference (1978-82, 72-42), the Big East’s Boston College Eagles (1982-86, 75-45) and Ohio State (1986-89, 59-41). In his 19 seasons as head coach of the Maryland Terrapins Williams has a 604-343 record. From 993-2004 the Terrapins appeared in 11 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, making it to the Sweet Sixteen 5 times, the Final Four twice and a National Championship.
