The Marquette Golden Eagles are the Marquette University basketball team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marquette Golden Eagles head coach Tom Crean left after the 2007-08 season to take on head coaching duties for the Indiana Hoosiers. The new head basketball coach at Marquette University for 2008-09 is Buzz Williams, a career assistant coach until 2006. Since 1990 Williams has been an assistant coach at Oklahoma City, Texas–Arlington, Texas A&M–Kingsville, Northwestern State, Colorado State, Texas A&M and Marquette. His only previous experience at the head coach level was a single season (2006-07) with New Orleans of the Sun Belt conference, where he went 14-17. His longest tenures during that stretch of 10 jobs in 19 years were two 4-season runs.
