Home court for Kansas State is Bramlage Coliseum, a 12,528-seat multi-purpose arena on the Kansas State campus in Manhattan, Kansas. The 2008-09 basketball season is Head Coach Frank Martin’s second with the team. The post is Martin’s first head coaching position at the collegiate level. He spent 16 seasons as a high school basketball coach (1985-2000) and entered the college coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Northwestern University in 2000. Before being named head coach at Kansas State Martin was an assistant to the previous head coach, Bob Huggins, who left Kansas State after a single season to accept the head coach position at his alma mater, West Virginia.
 
Despite 23 appearances in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, the Kansas State Wildcats have never won a national title. The team has made it to the Sweet Sixteen 16 times, but has 0 appearances in the round since 1988. The Widcats have been to the Final Four 4 times, with the most recent appearance occurring 45 years ago, in 1964.
 
The Kansas State Wildcats finished the 2007-08 regular season with a 19-10 record and were one of 6 Big 12 teams to go to the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The others were the University of Baylor Bears, Texas A&M Aggies, University of Texas Longhorns, University of Kansas Jayhawks and University of Oklahoma Sooners. The Wildcats entered the Tournament as the 11th seed in the Midwest Regional and upset the Pac-10’s University of Southern California Trojans, 80-67 before falling to the Big 10’s Wisconsin Badgers 55-72 in the second round.
