The Clemson Tigers are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The ACC added the Miami Hurricanes and Virginia Tech Hokies in 2004 and the Boston College Eagles in 2005. The Conference currently consists of twelve teams:

 

 

The ACC schedule works in three year cycles. Each team is assigned two permanent partners and nine rotating partners.

 

Teams play their permanent partners in a home-and-away series each year. The rotating partners are split into three groups: three teams who are played in a home-and-away series, three teams who are played at home, and three teams who are played on the road.

 

The rotating partner groups are rotated every three years. This creates an intra-conference schedule of 16 games against 11 Atlantic Coast Conference teams.

The invitation to play in the 2008 NCAA Tournament appearance was earned on the basis of a third place finish in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 10-6 record in intra-conference play in 2007-08 and an overall winning percentage of .706 and a regular season record of 24-9. The club was ranked #5 in the Midwest Regional and faced the 12^th seeded Villanova Wildcats at the St. Pete’s Forum in Tampa Bay. Despite a huge turn out from Clemson supporters, the Clemson Tigers were unsuccessful in the team’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in over a decade. The team lost the game 75-69.
